Official Event Geocoins

We have a lot of plans in the works for Geocoin fans! Here’s some information on the various geocoins to commemorate the events, that are available via our online pre-registration.

Official Living Skies 2014 (WestCan4) Geocoins:

GeocoinTwo official geocoins will be minted to commemorate the Living Skies 2014 (WestCan4) Mega Event.  The two coins will be of the same design, but in different colourways.  One will be available to attendees through pre-registration only, and the other regular version is also available via pre-registration, but will also be available at the event in limited quantities.

Living Skies 2014 (WestCan4) Geocoin Event Geocoin:

Geocoin Event GeocoinLiving Skies 2014 is proud to continue the tradition of the geocoin event held at WestCan 1 & 2, and we are creating a new coin in the series in the shape of Saskatchewan that will match and interlock with the previous two geocoins.

At WestCan 1 and 2, Tethys C and C-side Girl had coins minted in the shapes of the host provinces, featuring fossils.  These coins were available at each geocoin event that they hosted.  These coins are awesome and actually interlock together.

Stay tuned for news from the geocoin event volunteers that are working on the design of this coin! The new geocoin event coin can be pre-ordered via the Living Skies registration process.

We are reminting the previous WestCan Geocoin Event Geocoins!

Island Spirit (WestCan2) Geocoin Event CoinBest of the Bad Geocoin Event Coin

For new collectors or those who were unable to obtain the coins at the previous events, we have obtained permission to re-mint the WestCan 1 and WestCan 2 Geocoin Event coins. This is a fantastic opportunity to complete the set.  These B.C and Alberta coins are also available through Living Skies 2014 online pre-registration only. We will only re-mint enough to cover the orders we receive via pre-registration for pickup in-person at the event.

Saskatoon TB Race Update – Feb 2014

This just in from Dragonfly E&N: Greetings Racers…

I have recently updated the stats from our big race.  It’s been a few months since the last update so thank you so much for your patience. Some of the racers are putting on a lot of miles, many have stalled completely and unfortunately there are a few that have gone MIA.  Similar to the Regina racers; many seem to be putting on good miles but not collecting points as they are just visiting caches, not being placed and retrieved.

Check out the scores: So far Geobugs5’s  Motorcycle Princess has travelled the farthest with 20267 km but bertnabear’s Jayme’s dream car leads the scoring with 710 points.  Jayme’s dream car  is presently visiting Portugal where the weather is slightly warmer than here.  Motorcycle Princess has already been to Europe and back again and is currently in the State of Washington.

Follow this link for the detailed update on all the TB’s in Saskatoon’s Race Details Google Doc, or the Living Skies 2014 TB Race Page!

We will be updating again soon….Good Luck & Stay Tuned! – Dragonfly E&N

Regina TB Race Update – Feb 2014

This just in from Navyguider: Good day fellow racers!

I have just done an update on the race. Some racers are going at a good pace, others have stalled while 4 unfortunately have gone missing. Many are putting on good miles but not collecting points as they are just visiting caches, not being placed and retrieved. Oh well, that is how the game goes. We have a couple of TB’s overseas, they are really touring around.

Check out the scores. So far Trillium03’s “Dino One of the Best of the Bad” has travelled the farthest and also has high score. He is presently visiting in Germany – lucky guy.

View more statistics of our race on the TB Race Page!

squeak squeakWatch for scurrying critters while hunting for this unique cache! We can’t say much without spoiling this cache, but it is a must visit while in Rosthern!

A lot of work went into creating this large geocache, and that has been recognized by being the most favourited geocache in the immediate area.

Be sure to check it out!

Here is a scene that if not already familiar to you, will become so after attending the Living Skies 2014 Mega.

Mid July turns the prairie into a colourful feast for the eyes.  The canola fields turn to a vibrant yellow, and the flax fields turn to blue.  All of the growth and changes in the fields are so welcome after long winters where the fields are expanses of snow.

This cache isn’t near Rosthern, but I am going to write about it due to an interesting adventure we had while doing cache maintenance last summer.

The fact that this geocache is in a fantastic provincial park with the permission of Saskatchewan Parks doesn’t hurt, either.  This cache is located on a very small island in the middle of Madge Lake in Duck Mountain Provincial Park.  This park is on the Manitoba border, north-east of Kamsack.  If you’re looking for a terrain 5 cache this summer, this one’s a fun adventure.  Check out GC2CHKR and Duck Mountain Provincial Park.
